Raised in Boston, James Chiang studied both Painting and Photography at Parsons School of Design in New York City before moving to the West Coast. James’ background as a fine art painter resonates in his photography. Texture, subtle detail, and painterly composition all feature highly in his photographic endeavors- whether it’s portraiture, lifestyle, sports or product.

James frequently collaborates with his diverse group of friends on a range of creative projects. He designs and builds guitars; has ongoing collaborations in apparel and product design and plays beer league ice hockey. Whatever the endeavor, James is documenting it for all to enjoy. James currently lives in San Francisco with his girlfriend Elma and their Italian Greyhound, Noi, and for the past decade has also been an adjunct professor and visiting lecturer on the weekends at local graduate schools.
